The Great Rift Valley Innovation Summit is a first-of-its-kind event organized by the Ethiopian Diaspora Trust Fund (EDTF) to drive tech-enabled innovation and entrepreneurship in agriculture, healthcare, and education. The summit will bring together investors, startups, job seekers, entrepreneurs, and key ecosystem players to collaborate and shape Ethiopia’s future. 

GRVS will feature a job fair, workshops and panel discussions, and a Pitch Competition, which will award $750,000 in equity free funding to 18 impactful early-stage and growth-stage startups. The summit is a unique platform for networking, learning, and scaling solutions that address Ethiopia’s most pressing challenges.

Who Can Participate?    

Startups seeking funding are encouraged to apply for the Pitch Competition. Organizations and businesses interested in showcasing their products or services can reserve a booth in the Exhibitor Hall.

Startup Thursday – Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Edition

Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) in partnership with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) and the Ministry of Labor and Skills, highlighting the inspiring journeys of our SEED Program Cohort 2 startups.  

This special edition also marks the launch of the SEED Community Development Project, centered around the flagship " Startup Thursday "initiative. Designed to strengthen Ethiopia's startup ecosystem, this project fosters collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and sustainable growth by uniting key stakeholders. Together, we're building a vibrant community to empower entrepreneurs and drive progress in Ethiopia's economy.

The Internet Society Ethiopia Chapter is thrilled to host the Pre-IDC event. This unique gathering brings together Ethiopian and African internet development leaders, policymakers, technologists, and civil society advocates to address key challenges and opportunities in internet accessibility, digital inclusion, and policymaking in the region.

The theme Internet for All Ethiopians highlights crucial discussions on enhancing internet access and digital inclusion in Ethiopia. Key topics include the development of internet infrastructure through ROAM-X IUIs, recognizing internet access as a fundamental human right and its impact on local communities, and strategies to connect underserved populations via community networks.

The summit will also address the regulatory framework governing telecom services in Ethiopia particularly concerning cloud service provision, as well as exploring various facets of digital inclusion to ensure equitable access for all citizens.
